Lavanya P Khandi

Clinical Psychologist

I believe that helping individuals to help themselves can make a huge difference in the quality of their lives. In therapy, this is what I aim to do by helping clients equip themselves with skills to deal with past traumatic experiences and difficulties in the present, with a focus on improving their future from a holistic perspective. I mainly follow CBT principles with mindfulness, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), skills training, health psychology and positive psychology principles being incorporated into my work. My approach could be best categorized as integrative, as I use a variety of strategies from different schools of psychology to best fit each client based on their needs. I feel this efficiently provides the most effective tailor-made treatment plans. I have also undertaken training in EMDR, so as to help individuals who have difficulty in processing past traumatic experiences. I work with children, adolescents, adults and couples on a variety of condition including anxiety disorders, panic, sleep disturbance, depression, psychosomatic illness, personality disorders, emotional and social skill deficits and sub clinical syndromes.
